Pregnancy
is a amazing time in a woman's life, but the memories quickly
fade. As precious as pictures of mom cradling her growing
belly are, a two-dimensional photo does not capture the beautiful
curves a mother and child form together. A Pregnancy Life
Casting captures the exciting transformation a mom undergoes
during pregnancy in three-dimensions, and enables a mom to
forever remember how she looked during her pregnancy and the
special nine months she shared with her growing baby. |

Making
a plaster casting is very simple, utilizing non-toxic
medical grade plaster impregnated gauze, and is completely
safe for Mom and Baby. Your Pregnancy Life Casting Kit
has all the materials you will need, and easy to follow
instructions including techniques used by professional
artists. You can even utilize our artistic services
to have a ceramic
sculpture created from your original casting!
Many
Moms choose to display their finished Pregnancy Life
Casting as a piece of art unto itself. A fantastic way
to put the final touches on your plaster casting is
to paint artist's gesso (basically a primer, pronounced
jess-O) over the entire surface to protect and seal
your work. The dried gesso resembles the texture of
skin for added realism. All the products you will need
for protecting and mounting your life casting are available
in the PLC Finishing Kit. You may choose to further
embellish your pregnancy life casting with acrylic paint,
decoupage, jewels, feathers, footprints of your newborn,
autographs from friends and family...you name it. Send
me a picture of your finished piece, and I'll add it
to our online gallery! |

A
belly cast is usually made 4-6 weeks before a mom's due
date, but you could also make multiple belly casts to capture
the miraculous changes in mom's body throughout her pregnancy.
Many couples enjoy making a belly cast together, providing
dad with a unique bonding experience with both mom and baby.
Others throw belly casting parties and invite their friends
to help make or decorate their belly cast. The Pregnancy
Life Casting Kit makes a thoughtful baby shower gift, and
gift certificates are available for custom ceramic sculptures
made directly from the life casting, otherwise known as
"The Belly Bowl". Learn more about this unique
and artistic expression of motherhood in the Sculpture
Gallery.
